Week #13: And so it begins

1. Chamomile tea & mango yoghurt smoothie @ Cosans Coffee, SS15. Felt so good to be able to hang out with my friends for the entire week, given the fact that by 3 months we won't be able to see each other so frequently, as in on a daily basis.
2, 3. Brilliant decoration using umbrellas @ Empire City, Perdana Damansara.
4. Graffiti art @ Bangsar. I miss you, banana leaf.
5. The last semester of my degree studies have officially begun. Final year project is definitely not a piece of cake, especially when we only have approximately 2 months to finish our labwork. But again, this too shall pass. This phrase is in my mind every time I wake up from sleep with mind full of works or when I'm about to make a not-so-easy and critical decision. Perhaps I should tattoo it on my arm... Just kidding.
6. Parents came to KL over the weekend for the Qingming festival. Felt good to be pampered again, even if it was only for 3 days.

Sigma F10 Powder/Blush Brush

I've been needing a brush to apply blush for a long time and instead of getting a cheap one that sheds every time when used, I decided to get a Sigma brush. The bristle is natural and it is good for powder or blush application. The dome shaped brush fits my cheek perfectly and imho it is suitable for bronzer application too.

I bought mine from Colours Cosmetics Malaysia but you can also get it from other websites like Luxola, Lovely Adornment, Serendipity etc. Make sure to check for authentication before purchasing by going to Sigma's website as they have a worldwide list of authorised retailers. And remember to wash your brushes from time to time! You don't wanna get acne all over your face, do you?

Week #12 summary: Only hate the road when you're missing home

1. Most of the days in this week were spent on doing the first part of my dissertation, to a point that I felt claustrophobic just by looking at all the little black words in my Word file. I mean, is that even possible?
2. Divergent is on screen now but I have yet to see the movie. Although the book is a disappointment but I was (slightly) impressed by the trailer. Hopefully it is as good as it looks.
3. Anyway, look at the burger! It is March's special "The Superstar" at The Daily Grind, Bangsar. The battered and deep fried bun is made of cheese... My cholesterol spike just by looking at it. Although I can't say that my Philly cheese steak sandwich is a much healthier option.
4. Have been away from home for 5 days but am glad to say that seeing all the familiar faces actually make me feel less homesick.

Me against the world

Sephora Express Dry Shampoo ♦ L'occitane Fresh Face Water ♦ Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs ♦ Daiso Baby Wipes ♦ Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes

Am finally back to the big city which is currently in a state-wide water rationing that has been going on for almost a month. Swell. But hey it's better than a month of black-out right? Can't survive without electricity, especially in this current weather. But thank God March is coming to an end, which means we can finally have rain. Yay!

Anyway, in the area I'm staying we're alternating between 2 days of water and 2 days without, and also considering the fact that I'm living with 20 other students in my house (off campus accommodation) and hence I have to come up with a battle plan to combat days with no water supply. (On a side note, I've been plotting 2 weeks before the day I came back. This shows how water matters to me. Or just that there's something wrong with me.)

The dry shampoo is obviously for my hair but fortunately the weather has been gloomy since the day I arrived and my hair has not gone to the crazily oily state during the water-less days. I bought a pack of baby wipes from Daiso to wipe my body before I hit the shower (with a full bucket of pre-stored water), just to be extra clean. As for my face, I'm not usually a fan of facial wipes but I've bought a pack anyway to wipe off the excessive dusts and God-knows-what on my face once I reach home from outside, follow by cleansing milk and L'occitane face water that claims to 'cleanse, hydrate and tone'. I know, it's like triple cleansing but I just don't trust facial wipes, you know? Also one day after I arrived the pimples started popping (Four, if you're curious). See what the haze did to me?

How about you? What's your combat plan? One more week to go, we can do this! Good luck.

[Book Club!] Before I Go To Sleep

"What are we, if not an accumulation of our memories?"

I first heard about Before I Go To Sleep on a Taiwanese entertainment show as recommended by the celebs and so I mentally added this novel onto my to-read list. I picked it up from the book store nearly a month ago yet I only managed to finish the book just recently. (Procrastination. What's new?) And boy every page is thrilling. I finished reading the book in 4 hours as I couldn't put the book down.

The book revolves around a woman who suffers from amnesia and she wakes up everyday with no memory except for her name and bits of her childhood/young adult memory. She was shocked when she found out that she is 47 years old and is married to a man whom she does not recognise or remember at all. She then starts writing journal to record everything she learns throughout a day, following a doctor's advise; and from here secrets slowly uncovered.

I absolutely enjoy reading this novel and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspense novels, albeit the ending could have been less sloppy. But hey, in my opinion this is still a brilliant work consider the fact that it is Watson's debut novel.

It's the pink

The purse I purchased at Accessorize 2 years ago has served me well. It became old and dirty throughout the years but I didn't really care - As long as it can carry my cash coins and cards (occasionally receipts that I forgot to clear out), it's good enough for me. However the leather on the outer corner of the purse has started peeling off recently and my mom suggested to get me a new one so I decided to get this as one does not simply say no to pink. Thanks mom. x

10 years and counting

Always love catching up with the loved ones. Since TWG has opened a salon on the Island, so why not? A perfect opportunity for us to act classy like a tai tai. (We failed miserably.) The finger sandwich and chocolate cake were alright; macarons on the other hand were refreshing-- It's been awhile since I enjoy macarons without spiking my blood glucose level. Sadly this little party of 4 was perhaps the last session we had before I head down South for my new semester. I'll definitely miss my girls.

What's in my bag?

Image

Good old trusty purse from Accessorize ♦ Bunny sack for ladies stuff ♦ Coin purse full of good luck charms I bring around everywhere I go ♦ Pocket tissue ♦ Ray-Ban Clubmaster ♦ Oil absorbing sheet from Daiso ♦ ZA Two-way Foudation ♦ NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp (current favourite) ♦ Eclipse Mints

Today is the first day of Lent & henceforth Ash Wednesday. As a Roman Catholic, this year I sought to give up gossiping behind people's back (it's a bad habit most of the girls have, sometimes even boys) as well as negative thoughts I tend to have on people (ie. jealousy) to maintain a healthy happy mind. I ask Lord to give me strength and accompany me on my journey to become a better person.

Thanks daddy mommy for allowing me to get my dream bag. I thought I'd be on cloud nine after finally owning it but all I feel now is tinges of guilt. I guess it's not as fun as I thought it would be after all. Love you pa, ma. x
